Caroline is a Tiwa speaking member of the Isleta Pueblo. Isleta is located 13 miles south of Albuquerque, New Mexico.

In 1996, Carpio graduated from the University of New Mexico with a BA in Fine Arts. She also studied at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She lives in the Pueblo with her son, Nathan.

Caroline has been a potter for more than 24 years and more recently has been making bronze sculptures as well. Her work pays homage to the Creator for life and gives her the opportunity to create something beautiful from the Mother Earth from which we all came.

Caroline finds inspiration from her work in the traditions of her people, in the beauty of her surroundings and from Mother Earth. She started out making pottery using the traditional methods of her people.

Caroline continues to study and grow her ability to do sculptural form. This process has led her to making limited edition bronze castings of great beauty and power.

In 2000 Caroline was named a Fellowship recipient by the Southwestern Association for Indian Art.

Caroline was invited to be an artist in residence for the Takeo Region International Art & Cultural Exhanged Program in Japan in 2001.

She has received numerous other awards and recognitions.
